Goal: To help teachers establish a safe and respectful classroom environment, conducive to open discussion and differences in opinion.

What is the Role of Respect in the Learning Environment?
As a teacher, you know that establishing a respectful classroom environment has its benefits for saving classroom management time throughout the year. And more importantly, a respectful environment allows the students to accomplish their academic goals in a more deep and meaningful way. To handle participating in discussions around the topics of abuse, students must commit to doing their part to create a safe and respectful classroom environment. A respectful classroom environment is one where students and teachers practice respect for one another. This carries over to students practicing respect for one another outside the classroom, too.
